UNISAME URGES SMEDA TO FACILITATE JOINT VENTURES WITH CHINA

The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises ( UNISAME) has urged the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) to facilitate joint ventures, collaboration and transfer of technology with China.

President UNISAME Zulfikar Thaver said their is a technological gap and this can be filled on fast track with the help of China through joint ventures, collaborations and transfer of technology for mutual benefit of the SMEs and Chinese investors interested in textiles, foodstuffs, engineering, electronics, electric vehicles and general merchandise.

Thaver pointed out that the upper medium sector is particularly keen in partnerships with Chinese entrepreneurs for manufacturing drones for agriculture for speedy sowing, harvesting, fumigation, irrigation and plant protection.

The SMEs are also keen to manufacture many items in collaboration and joint ventures and a long list is available with UNISAME ranging from stationery, solar panels, batteries, cameras, cosmetics and many items of general merchandise.

The UNISAME Council members have urged SMEDA to promptly set up an help desk and make available the feasibility of as many industries and contact the Chinese Trade Consular or commercial attache for developing their interest in the subject.

The UC has offered its services for promoting the idea and bringing about meetings with both the Pakistani and Chinese entrepreneurs and has the support of local trade associations and chambers .
