The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) has urged the government to accommodate the majority under privileged sector and also the senior citizens in the fiscal budget for 2025/2026.
President UNISAME Zulfikar Thaver said the SME exporters are not in a position to pay such high taxes imposed on them and would not be able to survive. They will have to shut down which will ruin their years of hard work and image.
Secondly UNISAME has also urged the government to comprehend the fact that senior citizens are bearing the burden of retirement with limited income from pensions or income on their savings. They are incurring medical expenses, healthcare charges, escalated prices of daily requirements of food, clothing, living expenses and social/cultural obligations as parents and grandparents.
The UNISAME Council members are appealing to the policy makers to comprehend and consider reducing taxes for SMEs, salaried class and senior citizens as the Islamic Republic of Pakistan is a welfare state and this makes it incumbent on the government to make life easy for them and not burden them with taxes which would make them collapse.
